Music is life. Music is escape. Music is expression. Music is revolution. Music is life-changing. All these ideas, true as they are, aren’t new or revolutionary. Who cares. These ideas are undeniable and as factual as ever. So thank God that 2015 has already produced so much wonderful music for us to get lost in.
But seriously, imagine how tedious work would be if you couldn’t plug headphones into your computer and just disappear, just melt away in gracious solitude. Or think how terrible your work commute would be without music there to grab you by your oversized normcore shirt and just shake you awake. Wake up!
Granted, if you don’t have great music to listen to, well, that is problematic. Good thing 2015 is awash in great music and to help, I’ve compiled 15 of the best albums of 2015 (so far) for you to journey with as you wish. Sure this list is subjective but if you discover and connect with a few new tracks, albums or artists, you win (high-five!).
So, whether I was quietly jamming to Kendrick Lamar while sitting on the T or getting deep with Sufjan Stevens while pulling never-ending research for clients or dancing without moving to Dan Deacon or just trying not to laugh out loud to the incomparable wit of Father John Misty, this music has impacted me. I have a relationship with it. And, if you’re lucky, you soon will as well.
Please note that all best albums of 2015 are available on Spotify, and all the individual tracks listed below are linked to YouTube videos, so I urge you to check out at least one track on of each the albums below so you can experience some of the top music 2015 has already delivered. Now go forth, listen, enjoy, escape…
