Best of TV Shows All-Time

This is MY top ten list but it is still quite a tricky thing to compile right? Compressing such a list down to a mere handful is rough stuff even if you cheat disqualify a few favorites for a variety of reasons you can see below…

• (Way) before my time: M.A.S.H, I Love Lucy, Ed Sullivan Show, The Honeymooners, All in the Family
• Cancelled before their time: Firefly, Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, Arrested Development
• (Still) need to see: The Sopranos, Star Trek, Cheers, The X-Files, Six Feet Under, E.R.
• Good-not-great “nostalgia” shows: Saved By the Bell, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The OC
• Cartoons (sorry): The Simpsons, Southpark, Family Guy, Spongebob Squarepants
• Too soon to tell: Community, Parks & Recreation, The Walking Dead, Justified, Louie, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family

All of these shows should, for now anyway, be honored to be nominated recognized. But now, in a very particular order, my top ten tv shows of all time!

3. LOST
4. Mad Men
5. The Wire
6. The Office: U.S. Edition
7. Battlestar Gallactica
8. Sex and the City
9. Dexter
10. Breaking Bad

Any glaring omissions? Creating such a list is fun until you realize other shows that just couldn’t crack the top, I’m looking at you Survivor a.k.a. the best reality show ever, but as Kurt Vonnegut always said, “so it goes.”
