24/7! That is how accessible everyone needs to be in the tech savvy era we all live in. The younger you are, the more important it is to be active online though it is advisable to to be at least semi-active regardless of age. Whether it is on Facebook or any other social media outlet, being connected is
unfortunately is oh so vital to getting noticed. It doesn’t seem to matter if you are doing something as newsworthy as having a baby, watching a movie or if you’re just bored and need affirmation that you’re not pathetic: in 2012, EVERYTHING has become worth sharing so you had better learn the rules so pay attention. For example, if you decide to eat a donut, here are the various ways you should could let the world know:
Helpful or overwhelming? It is likely both but more likely to be the latter since this list doesn’t include Tumblr, Blogs, Reddit, Digg, various Apps or whatever else the internet will spit out next. There are so many ways to waste the time of others by wasting yours in taking the time to share it. Improved technology is great but the fact that you are eating a donut is not; nor is most of what we, yes I must include myself, post, tweet, blog etc. etc. etc.
Wasting time on the internet is easy since it is a black hole of opportunity but be mindful of how you utilize your time, especially with social media, since everything you put online remains there for an eternity. Want to get into college? It won’t help that you blog about how lazy of a student you tend to be. Want to find a job? Don’t tweet about how badly you need a paycheck. Want this, that or something else? Keep it to yourself since it is your prospects that you diminish and my/our time that you waste.
If you need want to waste time on the internet, try completely harmless websites like Iwastesomuchtime.com and forget social media. As for your social media updates/posts, treat it like hunger and give it time. Like with food when trying to determine hunger, before you post/eat, give it at least 10 minutes (or more) and if you still feel strongly about it well go ahead!
